He's sex on legs - official
By Maureen Coleman
16 September 2006
the north of Ireland's sexiest man is taking his new title in his stride.
Winning over judges is nothing new to Belfast man Paul Jamison - for he was also named Male Face of the Year in 2002.
Paul, a retail manager at Rio in Belfast's Donegall Arcade, was unveiled as Northern Woman's Sexiest Man in a competition on Thursday night, fighting off competition from 11 other finalists to win the title. And according to the birthday boy, who turned 29 yesterday, it was a complete shock.
"When I won the Male Face of 2002 it was through a competition also organised by Northern Woman, but there was panel of judges including Paul Stafford and I didn't have to do anything," he said.
"But this time it was so nerve-wracking. I had to get up in front of all these girls and answer three questions, some of which were quite suggestive. That's two titles I've won now, and, yes, it's great and I'm delighted, but it's the last time I do anything like this," he laughed.
Paul was entered for the competition by a young customer who frequents Rio with her mum. "It was nice to be entered for this but I've no idea why I was chosen," he said. "Maybe it was because I'm very definitely single. A lot of the other guys had partners. "I never would really have considered myself sexy until Thursday night, but I guess now there must be some people who think I am."
Paul also said he had no plans as yet to celebrate his birthday, but would probably end up in his favourite haunt, The Potthouse in Belfast's Cathedral Quarter. And the good news for the ladies is that he's up for grabs. "The type of girl I go for is naturally pretty, with a girl-next door appeal," he said. "Someone like the model Gisele."
