Did not know what you were getting at, with the BBC and anti Irish racism
I do not watch the BBC unless led there by Google.
So, I just watched the BBC online weather, and I was shocked how many times they got the phrase british isles' into the forecast.
5 maybe 6 times inside of a few minutes!!
I agree, there is a overt political and colonial point being made.
Shocking and hurtful, the sort of Colonial arrogance expected of the old U.S.S.R or China and the dead Colonial empire of 19th century Britain .
Ireland is not part of Britain or British, the Irish people do not consider themselves as British.
The BBC know this for sure! So why are the BBC using the relic arrogant and racist language of British Colonialism? Why are the BBC so overtly anti Irish.
Who is orchestrating this BBC political agenda?
They have no excuse for their arrogance and racism, the argument about the term for geographical purposes is not remotely plausible. In fact that claim only adds to their sheer arrogance and highlights their anti Irish discrimination agenda!
As you mention, the overt anti Irish racism of the BBC, is all the more disgraceful when they are aware that the Irish Government have stated the use of the term is offensive to Irish people.
Ireland is not part of Britain and the Irish are not British.
A minority in Ireland consider themselves as British, fine but they should respect the majority.
That minority should behave like the many more number of Irish in Britain who call themselves Irish but do not insist on calling Britain part of Ireland or Irish.
How hypocritical when British Westminster demands respect for their last vestiges of claimed Colonies by the point of a gun, drawn up by altering borders by force.
How pathetic and hypocritical of the BBC to be taking the moral ground over Russia and its claims on parts of Ukraine.
The BBC should show respect, start behaving as the many more Irish in Britain do and always have done. The Irish in Britain do not insist that Britain is part of Ireland or the British not relevant and all encompassed under Irish and the Irish Isles.
How would the British like it if RTE and Irish America started using Irish Isles, in similar arrogant assuming fashion.
Westminster would make a formal complaint.
No excuse, the term british isles which assume Ireland is what it is, not a credible geographic term, it is a anti Irish racist and colonial term, the pathetic last vestiges of the overt anti Irish diet dished up by the political media in Britain in the last century.
30 years ago in Britain, especially England, it was a non stop (diatribe) party of Paddy Jokes, the overt ridiculing of the Irish.
Thankfully the Courts of Europe have made them think twice if not cease that systemic anti Irish racism.
Time for these ignorant and arrogant BBC racists to move into the 21st Century.
Like the Irish and British lions rugby team have done.
Yes agree 100% with your points
