Even my grandad who is from old fierce kerry republican stock said, she looks like a lovely elderly woman.
sweet face when she smiles, and she looked genuinely interested in the gaa. and the set dancers who she was clapping in appreciation. looked like christy cooney moved her away too soon, she was still clapping.
i thought the croke park visit was a great success. christy cooney made a great speech, for a cork man he spoke for most of us.
i am irish, love ireland even in bad times. i don't want to be british and would never pretend i want to be anything else. i have no time for irish who try and fit in, by trying to make themselves less irish, almost apologize for being irish.
no race is perfect, but we irish have nothing to be ashamed of. even now the bad economics was corruption of a few, and they could not have cared about being irish or ireland. if you have to leave ireland it will not have been the fault of most irish.
being irish and all the past problems does not mean we can't be friends with the english or british now. we do have a lot in common and most of us were not even born when the really bad times went on.
we should respect this queen because she has taken risks in ireland, she will have upset those british who hate the irish for just being irish. and she will make very angry those unionists in ireland who think the irish republic and republicans are evil and have no place. it will have made them mad when she bowed in front of the irish freedom fighters memorial. and by doing so she accepted those first irish freedom fighters and irish republicans were right.
when you think of what the gaa has had to endure over the years, especially our ulster members.
the gaa has done it again, made us proud to be irish and the world see why. the gaa rises above and made this visit of mutual respect
god save the gaa
