Olympic torch relay may visit Dublin
Dublin could be added to the list of venues for the Olympic torch relay in the build up to next year's Games in London.
The London Games committee have already announced seventy four locations for the relay, which finishes at the Olympic stadium with the opening ceremony on the twenty seventh of July.
But Dublin is in contention to be included as well, and a decision on whether or not the Irish capital will be added will be made this July.
A spokesperson for the Olympic Council of Ireland said that if the torch does come here, the plan is to have between fifty and seventy five people carry the torch.
The torch relay to precede the 2012 London Olympic Games will start in Land's End and travel as far as the outer Hebrides on an 8,000-mile journey to the stadium.
The Olympic Flame will arrive from Greece exactly one year from today and the relay will kick off in Land's End, Cornwall, and continue for 70 days until the opening ceremony of the Games on 27 July, 2012.
On most days of the relay, the Olympic Flame will travel for 12 hours each day ending in an evening celebration event.
