Sceala Irish Craic Forum Discussion:     Rangers sectarian and racist supporters EUFA investigation

The sectarian and racist nature of Rangers supporters is under investigation again by EUFA. When will this club learn?
STV
Rangers surprised by UEFA charge
Rangers supporters could be banned from three European away games.
Rangers will "vigorously" defend themselves against disciplinary action from UEFA after allegations of sectarian singing by their supporters in Eindhoven on March 10, the club has said.
STV understands that the charge came as a surprise to the Ibrox club after the official match report from UEFA’s appointed delegate at the game made no mention of any sectarian singing. The delegate, Geir Thorsteinssson of Iceland, was in the stand for the 0-0 draw but did not report actionable behaviour.
The allegations leave Rangers facing serious consequences if the case does not find in their favour. Having previously been fined on three occasions in the past five years for the behaviour of the travelling fans, the sanctions could now affect supporters directly.
The club could now see their fans banned from three European away games next season as well as a substantial fine. Rangers have been fined a total of £49,000 since 2006 but could be fined in the region of £100,000 if their supporters are found guilty of the latest charge.

UEFA have given Rangers a week to mount their defence and will make their decision on disciplinary action on April 28. A delegation from the club is expected to travel to Switzerland to put their case and Rangers chief executive Martin Bain has said they will stress the measures taken to stop such behaviour.
“We are utterly dismayed to be informed by UEFA that it is to take disciplinary action against the club,” Bain said. “We will defend the club's position vigorously at the hearing which is scheduled for later this month.

“UEFA has already made clear in previous disciplinary hearings that sanctions against Rangers have been mitigated by the extensive work the club does to tackle sectarianism.
“A high ranking UEFA delegation also described our club as exemplars of best practice in this area and only a few weeks ago the First Minister complimented us on the efforts we make as a club.
“Our position regarding sectarian and offensive singing has been made clear time and again. We condemn it and those who indulge in it only damage the interests of the club.

This is the same Martin Bain who had to be asked his thoughts about the Celtic manager getting death threats.

Proof of the sectarian and anti Irish racism in Scotland. No where more is this obvious than Ibrox and rangers supporters.
