Sceala Irish Craic Forum Discussion:     Ireland calm before the storm

Caherciveen here in kerry had the most rain recorded yesterday, not sure how much, think it could have been 60mm, anyway we are always number 1 ROFL. kerry most visited county in ireland, the number 1 destination for tourists want to see in ireland.
it has been a really class day here today, like a end of summer day, i think all of Ireland has been class today. but bad weather news ahead, there are warnings of bad storms this weekend and into next week. some places are already flooded. give us a break
like kerrin said, this is the last thing we need now.

WEEKEND WEATHER ADVISORY
A spell of heavy rain will move northwards across the country late Friday night and Saturday morning, with clearer weather following. Although it will be short-lived -typically 3 or 4 hours - it will be intense enough to produce around 15 - 25 mm of rain in places, with south Munster and south Leinster most at risk.
Another area of rain and showers will affect many areas on Saturday night or Sunday, and could give as much as 15 - 25 mm, with the western half of the country most at risk at that stage.
These amounts are not exceptional in themselves, but in the current context they are of some concern, as they are likely to hinder or delay recovery from recent flooding and might even worsen conditions again at times.
It will be windy too for much or all of the weekend, and on Saturday night or Sunday there is a danger of severe winds (gusts 90 - 120 km/h in exposed areas).

Gale Warning
Southeast gale or strong gales later tonight and tomorrow morning on all Irish coastal waters and on the Irish Sea.
Issued at 15:00 on 20-Nov-2009

Today
Most places dry this evening and well into tonight with clear spells but there will be some coastal showers in the west and south. Wet and windy weather will spread northwards across the country late tonight and tomorrow morning, giving some heavy downpours in places. A bit colder than recent nights, lowest temperatures 3 to 7 C.

Tomorrow
Heavy rain in many areas at first on Saturday morning. Clearer weather in the southwest soon after dawn, will spread to all parts during the morning and early afternoon with sunny spells and scattered showers following for the rest of the day. Windy throughout. Highest temperatures 10 to 13 C.

Outlook
The unsettled, changeable, and often very windy weather, is set to continue over the rest of the weekend and well into next week. There will be periods of showers or longer spells of heavy rain, from time to time. Saturday night will be windy with occasional heavy showers, with hail and thunder in places. Lowest temperatures 4 to 8 C. Sunday will also be cool and windy, with strong and gusty westerly winds. Some sunny spells, but some further heavy and locally thundery showers of rain and hail too. Top temperatures just 7 to 10 C. It will become extremely windy or even stormy overnight Sunday night, with gale force westerly winds giving some severe gusts in exposed places. Monday will see the winds moderating gradually, but further showers are expected at times. Present indications now suggest, that wet and windy weather will develop either late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, with a very showery cool and windy regime following for the midweek period.

maybe even worse in england
