Dingle or An Daingean?

The craic is that the well-known name of the town of Dingle has been changed to its Gaelic translation - An Daingean.
Apparently, there is a brouhaha stirring because Dingle is considered a "brand name" and the new name detracts from that, and as well, many of the tourists are getting confused. However, Dingle is smack dab in the heart of the Kerry Gaeltacht and the Irish government has been trying to promote re-establishing the Gaelic language. Here is a bit from the article.
In fact, some people living in and around the town, think ditching Dingle, a catchy, memorable sort of a name, was a big mistake.
They argue that the internationally-known "Dingle brand", familiar to people in the US, the UK and beyond, is in danger of being lost.
There have been anecdotes about tourists taking wrong turns as they try to follow signs to the town along Kerry's roads. A greater concern is that if fewer tourists make their way - or find their way - to An Daingean, then local businesses will pay the price.
Anywho, what ya think? To Dingle or not to Dingle? Should well-established names be left alone?
