HOW CAN I MAIL YOU IRELAND?

How can I mail you Ireland
In a post card, Daughter dear?
I promised I would do so
Now and then while I was here

It seemed back then an easy task
A promise I could do
A tiny matter of choosin' some
And postin' them off to you

But now I think ...

How can one photograph
Describe this land so rare?
To simplify this grandeur
Would simply be unfair...

How can I capture all of it
So that it's crystal clear?
A peak at this or that landmark
Doesn't even come near

I'd have to send a post card
As I travel each single mile
For at every turn, on every road
Something new makes me smile

The beauty of dear Ireland, Daughter
Is lovelier each step I go
More than that, it is an experience
That I want you to know

Your forefathers and mothers
Came from Erin's shore to 'cross the sea
Without them, you would not be you
And I would not be me...

Though I cannot mail you Ireland
May these postcards spark the fire
So you one day come to Ireland
The home of our heart's desires
