Ryan Tubridy was OK, but does not have the life experience to be good yet.

Miriam O'Callaghan had a very poor performance by her standards, she never got anything new, and reverted to unfair tactics in attempt.
More concerning, I suspected before I even viewed this photo, that Miriam had fallen for the ambiguous promises of Sean Gallagher, the ambiguous entrepreneur.
Do you think Miriam's helping hand was just coincidence.

Is that the action of someone who must know she is supposed to appear impartial?
It was clear Miriam went all out to target Martin McGuinness. I have read other suggest she may have been ordered to. Many of the over paid were concerned about McGuinness winning. They did appear to be more concerned with stopping Martin McGuinness by any means, than open public debate.

I agree with what Jay suggested on here a month or so ago.
Some in positions of power were scared that Michael D Higgins might not beat McGuinness in a head to head. So Sean Gallagher was promoted as a jobs candidate without much thought or question to his suitability, or as we eventually found out - credibility.

The panic was over exaggerated. Martin McGuinness was unlikely to convince many more new voters anyway. Martin McGuinness appeared to lack the false charisma of career politicians such as Blair or Ahern or Obama.

Pat Kenny on the other hand, used soft approach and open questions, it was Sean Gallagher who hung himself out to dry.
His flip flopping vague answers was Bertie Ahern reborn.
Sean Gallagher showed his true colors, in his temper attack on Glenna Lynch, a member of the public for daring to ask him direct questions. Glenna Lynch was not prepared to accept Sean Gallagher's vague, when not meaningless answers.

Gay Mitchell was just a embarrassment, he has no temper management, and seems a real power freak. Like all the other candidates Gay Mitchell was handed the reins by Pat Kenny, and Mitchell showed his character faults all by himself. He had a point about the penultimate question, but he behaved like a spoiled silly child, literally.

Pat Kenny has proven that he is a first class host in such events and must be used by RTE in the future.
His style is not combative, it is more friendly, but that was never a weakness in these debates. Pat Kenny's intellect is bright and quick, and as Kenny proved live, he can instantly examine and cross reference any answer given, and on his feet.
Unlike the other presenters, Pat Kenny actually let the candidates speak and he listened to their answers.

Well done RTE, Pat Kenny.
The unspoken hero was Glenna Lynch, she was so thorough, and asked the questions of Sean Gallagher that needed to be asked, and many of us wanted to.
She did a magnificent job on our behalf.
