The only relevant fact is that Martin McGuinness actions brought to a end the IRA campaign of violent resistance. Peace in Ireland for over 20 years and all citizens are treated with equal rights.
Can we seriously believe that Fine Gael would have achieved that, or even cared! Extremely doubtful.
As Peter has highlighted, the Irish government could not even investigate the Dublin and Monaghan bombs fairly or properly.
In the past, and long past 1974, one Irish government after another effectively allowed if not encouraged British state terrorism and did little or nothing.
Fine Gael do not demand the British Queen come clean on her role. As we have seen she decorated the Murderers of Bloody Sunday and other massacres.

That is all in the past, we have over 20 years of peace. Thanks to many individuals and especially Martin McGuinness.
