David Norris President of Ireland salary gimmick exposed

Earlier this year, some of you may have watched Senator Norris in a conversation with Brendan O'Connor on the Saturday Night Show RTE. Not a interview, more a campaign advert by RTE for the shrieking ranter Norris. A follow up to a similar campaign for the equally born into privilege and equally limited genuine ability Shane Ross.
In conversation with the buffoon O'Connor, Senator Norris made some vague comments regarding the Presidents salary. David Norris was selling any naive listener - his great idea of a President on the cheap. David Norris would do the job cheaper, David Norris was going to take all the money, but use a percentage (unspecified) to further national and cultural causes (non specific).
So the born wealthy and privileged David Norris is not offering to work for free, or a reduced wage. David Norris is telling-selling us that he will decide what to do with some the vastly over inflated salary of the Irish President.
A President David Norris thinks it should be his right to decide what causes our tax money should go towards.
Wonder how many same sex and trans gender groups will be getting our money to spend convincing us how completely natural they are, by way of fancy dress street parades. In times of such economic hardship, the last thing we need is the charity of the self obsessed exhibitionist David Norris.
How generous of David Norris, how kind of this wealthy man of homes. He must relax satisfied in his stunning Georgian 3 storey house on Dublin's North Great George's Street, that must be worth several million even in this economic climate.
So quick recap on David Norris born in the Congo to a British colonial family, and now resides in Georgian splendor on North Great George’s Street.
David Norris is at best clown material - and not a regular clown for family entertainment. David Norris is a adults only clown.
David Norris is not Presidential material.
And David Norris is no martyr who has genuine concerns about the poor of Ireland.
The gimmick of a President of Ireland on the cheap was not even first aired as the idea of David Norris.

Just a few months before David Norris was trying to sell his idea on RTE to a cheering approving and naive audience.
A journalist from a newspaper group that has shown determination to get their man Norris in, was airing her supposed great idea.
Mary Kenny: If you want my vote for President, do it cheaper
By Mary Kenny
Monday September 13 2010
Michael D Higgins, Fergus Finlay, Brian Crowley, Mairead McGuinness, John Bruton, David Norris, Gerry Adams, Bertie Ahern, Mary O'Rourke, Mary White, Mary Davis, Trevor Sargent These are some of the esteemed candidates who have either declared their intention of standing for the presidency next year, or are considered as possibles. (So far, Mr Norris and Fergus Finlay are the front-runners.)
I have ruefully accepted that I am not likely to be a candidate myself, but I believe I have the absolute, surefire policy of how to win the presidency. Any candidate who upholds this policy would, I believe, sweep the board, wholesale, in a popular ballot.
Yet it is the one policy that is never mentioned in public discourse, however popular it would be with the electorate.
Call it the Ryanair policy, if you like. It is this: do it cheaper.

In fact the origin of the idea that the President of Ireland is overpaid - was not even the amateur dramatist Mary Kenny's idea. Most thinking Irish people consider the salary obscene in the best of time, today the salary is a scandal.
A member of this forum was asking the question in May 2010. President of Ireland salary - mad as hell And that is certainly not the first question of the salary either.
Like others have asked here, Irish people are now wondering if Ireland even needs a President? Enda Kenny has show he can perform all of the essential duties.
The United States of America can combine roles of leader and President, include some democracy, but Ireland can't!
Are we ever going to grow up and stop the party for the born into privileged elite. We never really got rid of the British aristocracy and poor laws for the Irish. Looks like all we really replaced was a flag and anthem.
Abolish the Senate and the Presidency.
Both institutions encourage waste and hangers on.

David Norris is trying to sell snake oil.
He is the same David Norris that was trying to get gates put up in Dublin public streets to keep the lower class Irish out.
Is Kenny right? Is that how pathetic the Irish have become, most of us don't even know why we need a separate over paid President, but we would vote for the cheapest.
