Queen of England will make apology to Irish nation
This news is very welcome.
The Queen of England will make a formal apology to the Irish nation during her visit to Ireland.
Details of the speech, will follow but it is not expected that the precise details of the Queen's apology speech will be made public before the British Queens visit in May.
It is thought that the Queen will most probably make the apology in a formal speech at Dail Eireann, (the Irish parliament), other reports suggest that Aras an Uachtarain (the official residence of The President of Ireland) may be the venue and it could be on a live broadcast by both RTE and BBC.
The historic apology will be the first time that any reigning British Monarch has expressed any sorrow or regret to the Irish people for the English and British colonial campaigns in Ireland.
Sinn Fein, the Irish republican political party have not as yet made official comment. Irish pensioner and former member of the party, who chose not to be named, welcomed the news of the apology from the Queen of England, but thought best to not comment further until the full details of the apology made by the Queen of England are known.
"I think it is just great that the Queen of England is going to be making this apology to the Irish nation".
"The apology is long overdue, but now it is time to wait and see what she has to say to the Irish"
