The cheapest house in Ireland is only €45,000
Who is going to buy this bargain.
With a price tag of just €45,000 it is one of the cheapest houses in the country.
But while it may appear at first glance to be a steal, the Limerick house just on the market has one major drawback: Wayne Dundon - one of the country's most feared criminals - lives next door.
While the country's property market may have collapsed, no buyer has been willing or brave enough to purchase the small home on Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, Limerick.
It is located in the very heart of the McCarthy-Dundon gang's stronghold on the southside of Limerick.
Wayne Dundon's home is next door to the home for sale and a boundary wall separates both of the front driveways.
It is understood the derelict home is in poor condition, needs substantial renovation and is boarded-up following a fire in recent years.
The view from the front door of the property for sale is not inspiring. Across the road, the high walls surrounding John Dundon's home make for an intimidating sight. Younger brother of Wayne, John is behind bars.
The auctioneer said the house was put on the market in recent months and offers of in and around €45,000 will be considered.
Wayne Dundon's imposing home on the corner of Lenihan Avenue and Hyde Road is surrounded by CCTV cameras and security lights. Released from prison earlier this year, Dundon is currently believed to be hiding out in the UK.
Following years of shootings, arson attacks and violence, neighbours of the Dundon gang have fled the Hyde Road area in recent years. An adjoining property to Wayne's home was also sold recently. The buyer is unknown.
It is believed the McCarthy-Dundon gang have forced some people -- who had their properties on the market - to hand over the keys and deeds of their homes for €20,000 or less - or face the prospect of being firebombed.
The average price for a house nationally is €198,689.
