Over the years, RTE has done a first class job of dumbing down the Irish people.
RTE now present the most ridiculous content to date - who is the greatest Irish person.
Where is this Ireland of the greatest
The Irish are still being forced to leave Ireland, forced to emigrate. Why are RTE holding this non-event.
For every Irish person that lives in Ireland, how many Irish people have had to leave Ireland? The Irish are having to leave their own country, leave because Ireland is still not run by the Irish for the Irish. RTE present the illusion.
What was this point of asking the question, who is Ireland's greatest person. Was it a RTE joke, to make us laugh in these bad financial times.
If it was just a joke, the punchline was in bad taste.
But just a joke - only then would John Hume the winner make any sense.

Before even considering if John Hume merits such a extreme title. Greatest Irish person ever.
What has Ireland actually achieved to warrant even asking the question. In a comparatively tiny island, we do not even have a united people. Ireland does not have a genuine peace. It has the same divisions and laws the British imperialists purposely set up to divide us.
The naive people who think John Hume is Ireland's greatest person, and that John Hume achieved peace are misled.
Regardless of whether you believe we have a genuine peace in Ireland, the so called peace we are supposed to have - was not John Hume's invention.
Those who think John Hume is the greatest Irish person, must also think that this is what peace looks like.

John Hume was always prepared to work alongside the British bully. Always prepared to work with the British invaders. In occupied France - people like John Hume were labeled Collaborators by most free thinking French. In Ireland such people are presented as great.

It comes as no surprise that the free state Irish would vote for John Hume on RTE. The dumbing down by RTE has left the Irish content to accept whatever the - BBC have influenced RTE - to report and present.
Those who believe in accommodating the permanent physical presence of the British state in Ireland- and those who do not give any real thought -mutually admire John Hume.
What did John Hume really achieve?
John Hume never won the Unionist community over, he never even budged them. Any movement was based on money, hard cash turned the Unionists a la carte. EU funds and especially Irish-American funds turned the Unionists.
