Sceala Irish Craic Forum Discussion:     Who is to blame for Ireland's debt crisis.

In Ireland we are having debate follow debate ...who is to blame for our current financial crisis. Who can we blame.
We have conspiracy theorists ...arguing over who did it to us. Was it the usual suspect ..the wicked UK ...or was it Germany. It was possibly a jealous unidentifiable combination. These are the grey suspects involved in a campaign to bankrupt Ireland ...teach the Irish upstart a lesson.
These conspiracy theories do have some credible basis.
The disgraceful blanket guarantee for Irish banks ....did indeed anger the UK among others ...with very good cause..some within the UK government ...felt that the Irish government was by design or default ..playing beggar thy neighbour.
Germany has long resented ..Economic Ireland with the low corporation tax rate ....that allows German companies headquartered in Ireland ...to use a series of loans to reduce tax payments to Germany.
Add in what is the emotion and moral free money markets ... speculators providing reasons to at least wonder ...a is or a if ...is not nonsensical.

We can blame immigrants to Ireland ....there is no credible doubt that Ireland allowed ...a ridiculously high and unsustainable number of unskilled immigrants and general workers to move here in the past decade.
There are few credible doubts that many ..if not a majority of these low skilled immigrant workers are now unemployed ...and in receipt of some form of social welfare benefits. There is no credible doubt that the same immigrants ....artificially raise Irish unemployment rates ....further degrading the status of Ireland PLC.

We can choose who to blame ...it is usually so good to have choice. Regrettably ..even if we could prove ....that some external force made things worse .....we can not cover up the source of the cause ...the Irish nation.
We the citizen's of Ireland who voted in the decision makers ...who when action was necessary made ...judgments that have thus far ...excelled only in extremes.
We can see the results of their naivety and procrastination. The only sight of a impetuous or brave call ...was to reinforce a stubborn persistence..in..resistance to reality.

Today Brian Lenihan announced a further 3 billion to Allied Irish Bank. This is more Irish tax payers money thrown away. Most every economist in the world has already concluded that the Allied Irish Bank is de facto nationalized. Procrastination and stubborn persistence on this level ...can only encourage further financial disaster.
3 billion would buy the Allied Irish Bank outright ....with enough change to effect change.

Who is to blame for Ireland's debt crisis.
We are too blame ..not the UK ..not Germany..not the EU ...not immigrants ..not anyone else. None of these can vote in Ireland ...no source blame is credible except here in Ireland and us the Irish.
We can choose to ignore the obvious ....that we are collectively too blame ...that we are the source that turned two blind eyes to blind greed ..that we became conveniently deaf and dumb to a increasing national arrogance ...and the dilution of a once gentle society.
If a minority of individuals were especially greedy and selfish ... some acting with economic treason ....why has not a single one been convicted and given sentence ...as has occurred elsewhere.

We need to accept that we were by practice of our collective actions ...a collective disgrace. This time ...there is no doubt that we are collectively to blame for the return of Irish emigration. The best educated and most able Irish are leaving Ireland ...encouraged to leave Ireland because of economic circumstances ...made by our own social and economic mismanagement of Ireland.
