roman catholic education in ireland

looking back ,i think our schools education and teachers were generally wonderfull.
i am aware that the education system in ireland has gone through much change since my school days. even better today.
as i understand things , considerably more change is being planned.
my family inform me the church are going to hand over control of many of the primary schools they had traditionally managed. i understand there are several reasons behind the church decision. one of the motivations is the changing population. another the global trend of primary education ,free from specific religious ethos.
what is going to happen to the education system in ireland.
what about the other religious ethos schools.
in the near future do you think irish state education will be secular in character.
