Watching Cromwell the series for the first time. It is old history, but still very difficult to learn the detail of crimes the English committed in Ireland against the Irish.

Even by the standards of the 17th Century, Oliver Cromwell's massacres and treatment of the Irish were war crimes, according to new research by these expert historians.
If it was not for the profits to be made from the slave trade, the Irish race would have been killed off.

The series shows Cromwell and the English army for what it was.
Sectarian terrorists, blood thirsty killers of thousands of innocent Irish women and children. Cromwell and the English butchered without mercy, then treated the Irish survivors as a commodity. The Irish were made slaves before the African, hundreds of thousands of Irish were exported and sold as slaves.

Innocent Irish people who were rounded up from across the country by teams of Oliver Cromwell’s man-catchers, bound in chains and shipped to the West Indies and America to work on plantations. One in five Irish slaves died en route, those who survived were scrubbed down in readiness for the slave mart. The women – nuns, soldiers’ wives, Roman Catholic gentry and teenagers – were stripped and checked for virginity. Good breeders were sold to studs, to make future slaves and brothel girls. The men were checked for muscle tone and strength of teeth, then branded with their owners’ initials.

It has been recorded that in many of the West Indian islands the Irish slave population outnumbered that of the Africans. This too came about as , the slave traders had to pay a sum for ever African abducted and delivered to them for the onward journey to the West Indies. In Ireland the Irish were just hunted down and taken aboard, free of any purchase price.

Cromwell and his Generals were evil monsters, sectarian terrorists. Cromwell was overall commander of English terrorists who slaughtered hundreds of thousands of innocent Irish men, women and children. Cromwell came from a nation that in 2009 is still proud to be openly sectarian.
People excuse genocide as history, despite England never offering apology or any reparations. The UK still being openly sectarian and anti Irish. The 1704 act bars any Roman Catholic from ascending to the throne of England and bars any British monarch from marrying a Roman Catholic.

Can you imagine the protests if the free state barred Protestants from becoming President of the free state. The first president of Ireland, Douglas Hyde, was a Protestant.

English attempts of the genocide of the native Irish must never be forgotten or forgiven.
