The ex British Prime Minister Tony Blair will be officially invited to Donegal town in County Donegal, to visit the hometown of his Mother, Hazel Corscadden.
Members of Ballyshannon Town Council in Co Donegal have unanimously agreed to extend an invitation to Tony Blair at a meeting of the Donegal Council authority. Eunan Doyle, Mayor of Ballyshannon was reported on rte as saying that the open invitation has yet to be officially extended. Mr Blair was invited to Donegal a year ago, but he was unable to visit due to his then busy schedule.
Tony Blair's Mother, was called Hazel Corscadden, she was born in the flat above her Grandmother's hardware shop on Ballyshannon's Main Street. Hazel Corscadden lived in Ballyshannon, Donegal as a young girl, but when her father, Tony Blair's Grandfather, died, they emigrated to Scotland. Hazels' Mother, Tony Blair's Grandmother, remarried and the family crossed the water to Scotland, settling in Glasgow.
