Do your areas have apple orchards??
Here we have Apple Hill...which opens officially every year on Labor Day weekend. ... various orchards but includes, crafts, baked goods, thrown pottery, fishing hole for the kids, hay rides, helicopter rides, and apples cooked and baked anyway you can think of to take back home... I used to buy a couple of bushels to bring back down the mountain and make pies, cobblers, etc... and the kids loved it when I would simmer some in the morning before school with sugar and cinnamon to go with their oatmeal... oh, also the pumpkin patches as October nears....
The best part to me is just going up the mountain, the air has that smoky hazy look to it...the smells are incredible...from brisk mountainous air with hints of pine, damp grass, or apple pies baking hot in the ovens... and meandering around with no hurry and not a care.... then back home with the bounty...
The artists and artisans (hand thrown pottery, paintings, glass, etc.) are amazing...
