The Irish Bachelor's Weddin' Day
Saints preserve us!
Finally...
The day came...
The Irish bachelor has fallen!
Call in the press...
After all this time, ye married me
My Irish blood thick in my veins
My red haired temper simmerin'
When my anger boils
It could not be said
I was a virgin
But white I wore
All the same
And ah, ye showin' yer green as well
Not able to hide yer heritage
Any more than I
Fair faced, ye are
With a head of thick hair to die for
The red hues long gone, aye
But ye smile, and say...gray is good
And we laugh together...
Were ye not popular with all the ladies?
As we danced
I could tell...
They were wishin' they were me
Would ye want it any other way?
Are ye glad, Husband
For my warmth in the night?
Agin' like fine decantered wine
Sittin' together on the shelf
We are, I fear, perhaps in our prime
Maybe past...
A wee bit vinegary to the tongue
If we sit too long...
Showin' my sediment, I am
Or maybe, my sentiment
But then, love,
Ye indeed are showin' yers
Would I want it any other way?
Nay, I am glad, Husband
For yer warmth in the night...
For I have fallen as well...
