Just when they'd thought
They done everything new
And interesting on a plane
They met on the flight home

Sharing impossibly funny stories
Giggling across two thousand miles
Before she realized
She didn't know his name
Nor he hers...

It had not been necessary to ask...

He reached out, brushing back her hair
With gentle fingertips
That she realized
He meant to kiss her?

The tiny bottles of airplane booze
Made her think of Christmas ornaments
Tiny replicas of licquor store memorabilia
Perched straight as small Chinese acrobats
On the hard plastic mats of their flip down tables
No, she says to him, laughing
We will not stack them into a pyramid

They drink companionably
Seatmates on a six and a half hour sojourne
Each a captive audience of the other
Did I , she questions him, tell you
That I talk constantly when I am nervous?

It was the last time that he reached over
With gentle fingertips
To brush back the stray hair
Escaping from behind her ear

Do you mind? he asks her
She shakes her head
He has captured her fancy...
