Jekyl & Hyde
Hello, Doctor, how are you?
Doing well, I trust.
You were here just the other day.
And then you disappeared in the dust.
It was good to talk to you
Given my state of mind
Only hours seemed to pass
Then, lo and behold, here was Mr. Hyde
He tells me this is just how it is
I’ve been down this path before
He takes this awful medicine
And the good doctor is locked behind the door
So what do I do, I ask?
Only Hyde is there to answer.
It is what it is, my dear
Don’t bother to figure out this cancer
But it eats away at you, I cry
One slow day at a time
I worry for you, don’t you see?
Because there’s no reason for this crime
Be it an Irish girl or a path or whatever you need
It’s out there for you to find
The Doctor needs only to stick around long enough
And keep hope firmly in mind
I’m a hypocrite for saying so,
That I realize too well,
Just hate to see a friend I care for
Putting himself through all this hell
If only he could see what I see
Dr. Jekyl would be here for good
I don’t want anything but to see him happy
Oh, I suppose if I was good enough, I could!
But right now it’s Hyde in his place
Though not a bad fellow most days,
I sorely miss the Doctor’s laugh,
And I hope that he’s okay.
So if you’re out there, Dr. Jekyl,
I hope you’re listening though you can’t see
Because even if you can’t come back for yourself
Maybe, just maybe, you could do it for me
