We tried to meet we tried to greet
life got in the way , boats and trains
I know you waited far to long
you never said a word

I tried to write you know I did
you still never complained
you never said those words
come to me I tried

at last we married
you wore your sisters dress
and still you were so happy
you really did cherish me

In all my life with you
you asked for so little
hope I gave you more
for your eyes never said so

but your joy of liveing
and your laugh aloud
made me think id made it
not a word of complaint

when was time to part
I know I let you down
was so scared and weak
left it to another

how can you say goodbye
to the one who made you real
how can it ever end
my wife ..and my only lover .
